Introduction

*This site contains galleries of my personal work that I have done.  I've had included some photography, digital art, and websites designs.  There is also a wallpaper section, containing wallpapers I have done that you may freely download and use on your desktop.

I'm a developer by profession and for fun, I have written tutorials and included a "Code Snippets" section for you to look at.  Never know, you may find something useful!

My Favourite Applications PDF Print E-mail

I decided to compile a page of my favourite applications I use on Ubuntu or Windows, with my rating out of five.  I'm sticking to free open source applications - so why not try 'em out?

 Song Bird

Firefox 3

Songbird is a Firefox clone, but instead of just using it to browse the internet you can play and search for music on-line or on your local pc

I used to use Winamp, and although Winamp was a good piece of software - they had started to add things like adverts and was becoming a bit bloated.  Songbird seem to pretty much do everything that Winamp did - but better.
Mozilla Firefox 3, in my opinion the best browser out there.   I'm using it on Ubuntu and on my Windows Vista machine.  Run well and I've never had a problem with it.  Can take up a bit of memory, but I don't install many plugins / add-ons, so my installation runs fine.

I would definitely recommend it! Cool

Notepadd++ is a great little replacement for any other text-editor.  I've been using it for about a year now and am very happy with it.

Sometime I don't want to use Visual Studio, and Notepad++ offers a nice alternative, and I can configure it to display code in the same colour codes as Visual Studio, get my styler.xml file here.

I would recommend trying this out.  The only thing that could really be improved so far is the intellisense - although the latest version (version 5), seems to have much better handling of the intellisense.
I used to use Adobe Photoshop a lot (and still do), but I can't use Photoshop on all my PCs and certainly not on my Ubuntu based laptop.

So instead of using Photoshop for image and photo editing, I use The Gimp.  A good little program, I'm not quite used to the interface yet.  As a M$ Windows user and a Photoshop user for many years, I'm used to different menu layouts.  Aside from that I find The Gimp feature rich and a very useful program.

Saying that about the menu layouts, you can get a Gimpshop mod for The Gimp, which converts the menus to a Photoshop Layout.  I've tried this a couple of time with varying success (didn't work too well on my work XP machine).  You can downloadit at gimpshop.com.
